Travel Notebook is a Piano Concerto by Ukrainian-American composer Shor, which reworks Rachmaninov's language in a modern way, showing great evocative ability. It is well matched by the magnificent "Crisantemi" by Puccini, composed for the death of Prince Amedeo d'Aosta; in this composition emerges Puccini's lyricism, along with his great harmonic sensibility, nourished on Wagner's language. In conclusion, Elgar's work effectively and refinedly opposes a solo quartet to the full orchestra, in a manner that recalls baroque Concerto Grosso.
