Sometimes a second is enough...
Black and White is essentially a contemporary and adapted version of one of the leading classical repertoire titles, "Swan Lake", one of the most performed ballet in the world. However, the version of the Brno Ballet, which was very successful in the USA, represents today's world. The work attempts to bring a different point of view to the new generations, contradicting all traditions and as such visually reshaping Swan Lake. In the traditional version, the figure of the dancer is the most dominant (the double main role of Odette-Odile) and therefore it is mainly a statement about the female element. However, in this production the story is told through the main character of Prince Siegfried, who is going through a difficult life situation associated with the treatment of a serious disease: cancer. Sometimes a second is enough and life is turned upside down. Siegfried is looking for himself in the beauty of the beautiful and almost perfect creature that is a swan. Just like the Prince in the classic version of the story, he too faces a choice. Black or white ... Is the color of white really that innocent or is it much more dangerous than black? Some cultures consider black to be much more predictable than white. It's about the way we see things: perhaps paradoxically, black helps us much more to become aware of our journey.
